Dexter review

The moment Dexter got caught by his sister
Dexter has just begun showing the 7th season. It has been an enjoyable ride so far, with some poor moments. Overall this is a great TV show for guys and most people will enjoy it. Dexter is the star of the show, a serial killer with a twist. Instead of the traits we would associate with a traditional killer, Dexter is actually a "good" one.

He works for the Miami police as a forensic blood spatter specialist. So technically he not a cop but that is where he goes to work everyday. His step sister is the second biggest character in the show. One of the poorer decisions from the writer so far has been to introduce signs of sexual tension and possibility between the two. This is not a nice idea and hopefully they will stop going down that route.

Dexter was identified as a psychopath by his father at an early age. His Dad taught him to channel his obsession with killing and taught him some life rules. This resulted in a fairly normal, well functioning member of society with a good job. Instead of killing random people, Dexter channels his urges towards more just killings. Basically he targets the worst criminals who slip through the system. The original format was to kill a new person in almost each episode, but that has gradually given way in favor of a season long battle with a more formidable criminal.

The show has a classy style and it avoids being too graphic or crude. It is not the perfect TV series but most men who have seen it are big fans. This comes highly recommended from me and is one of the better options airing at the moment.

My rating 4 stars out of 5.

Update 2014: Dexter has now ended and the last season was awful. The last episode in particular was a shambles. A truly disappointing end to a previously decent TV show; rating downgrade to 3 stars out of 5.

Update 2015: My advice is to skip the last season altogether if you watch this TV series. It is not worth it and will leave you empty. Such a terrible ending is criminal and an insult to fans of the show.
